Important news about the VERAP U program!

Effective January 1, 2023, utility benefits will be extended through June 30, 2023 for unsubsidized households with incomes below 30% of Area Median Income as defined by HUD. The benefits will continue to be paid at 70% of the invoice amount through March 31, 2023 service dates, and then will drop to 50% of the invoice amount for services dates April 1, 2023 to June 30, 2023.

What is VERAP U? VERAP U is Vermont’s Emergency Rental and Utility Assistance Program. This program covers electricity, natural gas, water and sewer, trash removal, fuel oil and other energy costs. Renters do not need to apply for rental assistance in order to apply for utility assistance.
