Transfer Station: Transactions & Payments

Transaction

Our Public Works team strives to provide Transfer Station patrons with a well-maintained & affordable solution for disposal of their trash & recycling. Our team consists of two people on open days and they are charged with following and enforcing certain rules to avoid the Town being fined for violating State regulations as well as following regional solid waste disposal rules.

The team members at the Transfer Station work hard to make a patron's visit as efficient & pleasant as possible. We all know that at certain times during our open days it can get busy, but as common with other places of business, it is customary to wait in line until it is your turn to pay for goods and services. The Castleton Transfer Station is no different, so cutting the line and tossing money on the counter or passing it through the service window to circumvent the line is no more acceptable at the Transfer Station than any other place of business. There is a reason why. Our Operators need to account for each type of transaction and to be able to accurately reconcile these transactions the end of the day. There is a process the operators must follow to do that and when cash or checks are left on the counter, or thrust through the service window while the operator is busy with another transaction, can be problematic at the end of the day.

There is a solution for those just disposing of bags of household trash. Purchasing stickers ahead of time will help patrons avoid waiting in line. If only disposing of bags of household trash, putting stickers on the bags ahead of time will avoid a patron waiting in line. Stickers are sold at the Transfer Station, Beverage King and Prunier's Market.

We ask for your cooperation and patience to allow the Operator to process your transaction as you would at other places of business.

Thank you.
