2024 Roads posted for weight limits 02/19/2024- 5/15/2024 (or end date at the discretion of the Road Commissioner.)

In order to prevent the abuse of Town Highways, as provided by law, the Castleton Select Board voted at the Special Meeting of February 16, 2024 to impose temporary vehicle weight restrictions on any or all Town Highways when deemed necessary effective February 19, 2024.

Vehicles operated on any or all Town Highways (Class 2, 3 & 4) shall be restricted to the following maximum weights:

Two-axle trucks:         15,000 lbs.

Three-axle trucks:       18,000 lbs.

Tractor/Trailers:          20,000 lbs.

These temporary vehicles restrictions shall be effective upon the proper posting of restricted highways, as provided by law and shall remain in effect until May 15, 2024 or until lifted by the Highway Commissioner, whichever is sooner.

This action is authorized under Title 19, VSA § 1108-1110. Procedures governing the establishment of these temporary vehicle weight restrictions are provided under Rule #118-4 of the State Transportation Board.
