Heat Advisory

Many thanks to our community partner, the Castleton Free Library, for hosting a cooling center on Friday, June 12, 2026. Please check on your family, friends, and neighbors who may have medical conditions or other factors that would make them more vulnerable to heat injuries. Below are a list of websites to review if you are unsure of how to prepare for extreme heat or would like to learn more about how to prepare for periods of extreme heat. 

Below is the message from our wonderful library staff:

The National Weather Service has issued the first of the summer heat advisory for our area tomorrow, Friday, June 12th from 12:00pm – 8:00pm. The Castleton Free Library will be open and air conditioned from 10:00 – 6:00 tomorrow if you need or want a place to cool down.

You don’t need to be a library patron to come to the library to get relief from the heat! Comfy chairs and lots of reading material are available. We are a designated cooling station and will be air conditioned all summer long. Library hours: Tuesday and Wednesday 2-6, Thursday 12-8, Friday, 10-6, Saturday 10-2.

We are closed on Sunday and Monday. We may have extended hours on very dangerous days.
