Rec Director Tax Impact

Castleton Recreation Commission has had two (2) co-program directors for the past five (5) years. The salary for these directors was $20,162 combined which were part time and did not include any insurance or benefits from the town. The proposed budget for the full time recreation director which includes insurance and benefits from the town is $66, 051.28. The impact on taxes per $100,000 property taxt assessment from the co-directors to the ful time director position would be less than one cent (0.0090).  Considering the benefits that would be realized from having one person totally dedicated to growing recreation programming in Castleton this is such a minimal increase. Please consider this when you vote on Article 9 on March 1st at the Fire Station.
