Castleton Volunteer Fire Department

It is with great Town pride that the newly built Fire Station is in service.  On May 30, 2015 a townwide celebration took place that included participants from numerous surrounding communities.  This structure has been needed for many years and will serve the future of Castleton for many more.

Future needs have been anticipated and a capital budget plan exists with sinking funds dedicated to replacement of needed items. The membership of approximately 20 is voluntary. Training and fire prevention awareness have been top priorities of the department. Results from this prioritization show that although our population has doubled since 1969, the number of fire calls has been reduced.

The Castleton Volunteer Fire Departments serves an area of approximately 38 square miles (26,688 acres) that responds to fires and other emergencies in the town and to mutual aid calls as needed by neighboring towns.

The Fire Warden is responsible for taking measures needed to prevent and bring forest fires under prompt control. Permits are required, please contact the Fire Warden.
