Castleton Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes
March 12, 5:30 CVS
Present: M. Ryan, N LaFrancois, A.L. Stockwell, M. Droege, and M. Clifford on zoom.

Approval of Feb. minutes. Motion to approve approved by N. LaFrancois, seconded by M. Ryan.
Youth sports
Basketball has concluded
Baseball LL sign-up is through Rutland County Little League
Softball through Castleton Rec. Dept.
John reported that dug outs are being repaired. The Dewey field bathrooms will be working again by baseball/softball season.
Mary McIntyre is recruiting volunteers the Lions Club to help clean up downed tree branches and brush in playing fields.
Summer Rec. Offerings
Swim Lessons
Martha reported that Gail McGann is coming back as the swim teacher and John (last name?) is her assistant and will take over the lead swim teacher position once Gail retires (next year?).
Sailing Lessons
Same as last year
Tennis
John is in communication with the tennis instructor. The fees need to go up to cover costs. No one signed up for adult tennis last year but we will try again this summer.
Adventure Camp
The weekly cost was raised to $75 for residents and non-residents $85. John is looking to arrange paid internships through VTSU. There was a long discussion about feedback and changing the curriculum. It was decided that Becky Lanfear needed to be part of the discussion and a separate meeting was scheduled for March 27 to discuss Adventure Camp.
Adult Sports and Activities
Pickleball continues to go well. John is investigating turning the outdoor basketball court into an outdoor pickle ball court. John is meeting with neighbors about property lines and noise issues.
Indoor walking is steady.

CVS facilities update:
Locker room showers now work.
The sewer backup was all on the Town Sewer Dept and not CVS. The sewer dept. is removing the trap in the line and cleaning it.
