Castleton Recreation Commission
Meeting Minutes – November 1, 2022

Department Updates (as necessary) 6:00
Youth Sports
Soccer – nothing new to report
Basketball – N. LaFrancois will reserve the CES gym for 3-4 basketball.
Athletic Fields – M. Clifford reviewed the expenditures for FYE 22 and found a shortfall in the
lawn mowing line item. She has notified the Town Manager about this and requested to be
informed when the new bids are awarded.

CVS Building Discussion
- The Castleton select board voted that Castleton will buy-out Hubbardton’s 11% share in the CVS building.
- The Castleton select board did not accept the last offer from ABC Daycare.
- M. Clifford gave out information about submitting petitions from the Secretary of State’s office.
Rec Director
A candidate for the director position was interviewed and was very enthusiastic about the
position. There was some discussion on areas that the Commission is hoping to get winter
programming scheduled. This will be activities that the director works on in the near future.
New Business
The Town Manager asked if the Rec Commission would make a donation towards the
July 4th fireworks. There was some discussion, but members wanted to think on it until the Dec meeting. The funds would be taken from earmarked money in the Crystal Beach Concert Series line item. M. Clifford will report back in December as to the balance in this account.
