Meeting Minutes

Members Present: N. Lafrancios, A. Niklasson, M. Parsons, M. Ryan, M. Droege

Call to Order 5:35

May minutes were approved as submitted (M. Hall motioned and A. Niklasson second)

Old Business

M. Droege/M. Clifford gave a update on the CRC/CVS Coalition latest meeting. A draft support letter was drafted (M. Droege) to be sent out to many Castleton and Hubbardton residents giving them a general format and a list of possible talking point that could be changed/edited to fit their particular interest in the proposed use of the CVS building. The group then brainstormed a list of residents and each person at the meeting took names on the list to contact. The Rec members also added names at a later meeting and each took some names to contact.

Summer Camp Update (N. Parker, B. Lanfear)

Camp location is going to be the Castleton Library for the beginning week(s), until Rec gets a response from the S.B./Ad-Hoc committee about using CVS for camp.

Personnel: All staff has been hired. There will be co-directors working 2- and 3-day schedules. There will be volunteer Upward Bound students from CU that will assist with campers M,W,F.

Food: B. Lanfear has secured free food for the campers (breakfast, lunch, snack) through a government program.

Programming: Most activities have been organized and locked in.

Request for ARPA money for use for CVS (should Rec get CVS) was discussed and decided on.

Youth Sports 

< >A. Niklasson updated that the RCLL will be raising its registration fees for 2023. This will be put on the July agenda for discussion.M. Parsons reported that finding umpires for softball has been extremely difficult this season. Some of the other towns/leagues pay more that we do. We will reach out to other towns for feedback on how they build their umpire list.
