Youth Sports

- Baseball pricing was discussed. It is agreed that the prices are getting too expensive. The obstacles preventing Rec from sponsoring baseball were reviewed again (cost of equipment and hiring umps, the lack of coaches, player demand beyond resources). Bo E.R. suggested revisiting the topic during another meeting to continue with the agenda.

Director’s Report

CVS Discussion

While people joined the meeting, Ann N. mentioned that someone approached her about renting the CVS gym for AAU basketball this March, and his budget was about $500. Ann N. asked what he had been quoted. Bo E.R. replied that they explained to the AAU representative that Rec does not have a pricing model yet and could not offer a quote yet. A ballpark number subject to change would be around $75/hr with discounts available after a certain number of hours booked. Ultimately, they needed a quote and a reservation faster than Rec could provide, and it was decided to resume talks next season.

- Bo E.R. reviewed the results of the Town Meeting vote in Castleton (1/1 yes vote) and Hubbardton (2/2 yes votes). Bo E.R. described the Select Board meeting that followed the vote. Bo E.R. and Mary D. expressed concern about the quick nature of the CVS discussion at the Select Board meeting.

- Bo E.R. asked the group what ideas they might have to continue pushing forward, since Bo E.R. was discouraged by the Castleton Select Board from reaching out to the Hubbardton Select Board. Matt R. commented that the Select Board was surprised by how vocal Hubbardton residents were. Residents from both parties have been vocal, Bo E. R. noted.

- Pricing models were briefly discussed, brainstorming hourly rates for the gym vs rooms. Mary M. offered to investigate what the gym had been rented for in the past.
