Public Notice Sale of Town Buildings and Property

The Select Board of the Town of Castleton hereby provided notice to the community that it intends to sell to the highest offer by way of sealed bid several parcels of land. 

Previous used  three-bay, two story Municipal Fire Station and additional two-bay structure is located on 39 Elm Street. This property is located on .20 ac and abuts the Lee Lodge and Ellis Orchard, Inc. Building was built in 1974, having primarily concrete block exterior and metal roof cover, with two 3/4 baths. Asking price is $175,0000.

Also, 18.28 acres of vacant land with 389.96 feet of street frontage, located on Sand Hill Road. Town water and sewer is available. Parcel ID is 0901000011 is zoned RESD 2A. Asking price is $125,000.

The above real estate offers shall be coordinated by Wenda Bird at Century 21 Real Estate (802) 236-3712.  The Select Board reserves the right to reject any and all offers when deemed to be in the best interest of the Town to do so.

Should there be a accepted offer; the conveyance shall take place not less than thirty (30) days subsequent to the date of this publication unless a petition signed by five-percent (5%) of the legal voters of the municipality objecting to the proposed conveyance is filed with the Town Clerk pursuant to 24 VSA 1061(a)

Parcel #1 - W. Birdseye Rd - Parcel #100200034.  The parcel thereon situate were conveyed to the Town of Castleton by Administrator's Deed of Estate of Ronald L. O'Bryan and recorded in Book 108, Pages 418-20 of the Castleton Land Records.

Parcel #3 - Mill Street - Parcel # 455000002.  The parcel thereon situate were conveyed to the Town of Castleton by Alton & Patricia Trombley and recorded in Book 64, Page 403 of the Castleton Land Records.

Parcel #4 - Corey Lane - Parcel # 435000024-1.  The parcel thereon situate were conveyed to the Town of Castleton by Administrator's Deed of Estate of Harold Gilmore and recorded in Book 88, Page 403 of the Castleton Land Records.

Should there be a successful bidder, the conveyance, per 24 VSA 1061, shall take place not less than thirty (30) days subsequent to the date of this publication unless a petition signed by five-percent (5%) of the legal voters of the municipality objecting to the proposed conveyance is filed with the Town Clerk.
